Liz and Alex are continuing the legacy Hair Junkie as the new owners, bringing their passion for the beauty industry and a wealth of experience to their venture. Their journey began in 1998 when they first met and quickly forged a lasting friendship.

In 2020, they seized the opportunity to take over the ownership of Hair Junkie, a pivotal moment that allowed them to transform their shared dreams into reality. With their combined expertise and determination, Liz and Alex have taken the salon to new heights.

Alex boasts over 20 years of experience in the service industry, having excelled in various roles such as Hair Junkie’s front desk lead and manager, merchandising, and graphic design. This diverse background has equipped her with invaluable skills in creating an exceptional customer experience and ensuring a visually appealing salon environment.

On the other hand, Liz has been an integral part of the Hair Junkie team since 2004, specializing in colour and client care. Her extensive knowledge and artistic flair have earned her a reputation for delivering behind the chair while prioritizing the individual needs and desires of her clients.

Together, Liz and Alex have forged a cohesive partnership, dedicated to fostering a thriving space for their incredible team. They strive to provide an environment where every team member can flourish, pursuing their passion and delivering high-quality services to their cherished clientele. At Hair Junkie Salon, their shared vision is to create an atmosphere of creativity, skill, and excellence, making it the go-to destination for all haircare needs.

After being a loyal client of Hair Junkie since 2007, I decided I had to be a part of the team. I work full-time for a tech company and split my part-time role between Hair Junkie and Spa Junkie. I love getting to know our clients and giving them a chuckle at the front desk. I love the energy of the salon and taking care of our clients.

Alicia is a hairstylist of 6 years and loves every minute of it as every day is different. She has been a Contessa finalist once and semi-finalist twice and loves the creative outlet she gets when doing hair competitions with a passion for learning new skills and techniques. Alicia will always take advantage of any classes she can. She currently has done classes on balayage multi-cutting/styling as well as vivid and colour classes. She loves working with extensions + vivids but is well experienced in all colour, cut and up-do. services  Alicia is a passionate stylist, a very joyful person, and always treats her clients with love + respect.

After receiving a degree in Psychology from Carleton University, Allie decided that she needed something more hands-on.  She started as an assistant and worked her way up in a few salons and graduated from the Ottawa Academy for Hairstyling.  After learning about Hair Junkie from a Co-worker, she was hooked! She joined the team in 2015 and calls it her second home.  In the past few years, she has taken courses in Living Proof, Balayage, Redken colour, and Redken Cutting, and has others in her sights!   With her 10+ years in the industry, she was a great fit to take on an educational role with the apprentices.  She loves to teach and learn.

Emma is our resident rainbow aficionado.  Helplessly passionate and creative, she works full-time behind the chair and specializes in colour.  Whether it be creative colour or highlights, she’s ready to serve her clients!  Her work has been seen internationally in publications and she works on photoshoots & in the world of fashion to express her creativity and bring new and innovative ideas to her work in the Salon.

Fruit and Burritos (not together)

Advice for past-self:
Blonde box dye will not look as cute as you think, it’s a mistake, put down the box!

Most likely playing Minecraft, watching true crime documentaries or hanging out with my dog!

Accomplishments you’re most proud of:
Putting myself through High School and College by working several jobs at once.  It was hard, but 100% worth it because now I get to make people feel beautiful every day!

I’m a sucker for anything Sarah Dessen because I have the reading tastes of a 13-year-old girl.

Dream Vacation:
I would go on an education tour! I really want to train with Vidal Sassoon in London and take classes with Pulp Riot all around the world!

If you could meet anybody, who would it be:
I would give anything for a day with Keanu Reeves, what a wholesome man!  He plays all these crazy action roles but is also one of the nicest humans ever!

If you could have a superpower or be a superhero, what/who would it be?
Pshhh, I’ve already got one! It’s Emma Scissorhands

First job:
Newspaper delivery.  I proudly distributed the Algoma News for a couple of years in elementary school before getting a job at the local Grocery Store.

Having a love for art her whole life, Grace was inspired to pursue Hair Styling.  She loves to learn and takes as many classes as she can to advance her education.  This allows her to go above and beyond to personalize her services for each person.  Cutting and Updo’s are a favourite of hers, but a fun colour thrown into the mix is always welcome to help spruce up or enhance her client’s style.

Juliana’s childhood dream was to be in fashion. Growing up in Greece, she started in the business at an early age and eventually attended school in Athens.  A natural talent, Juliana has padded her resume with numerous achievements through education. An expert in all things Kerastase, having trained at their flagship New York City headquarters, Juliana is our “go to girl” when it comes to their line.

Juliana has covered the continent, honing her skill at every level of the business. She has been to New York City & Mexico with Kerastase, Vidal Sassoon Academy in London England and Montreal and Las Vegas with Redken, on top of ongoing training here in Ottawa

Pleasant and easy to talk to, Juliana is our little touch of Europe, right here at Hair Junkie.

Kyle is a creative artist who loves to show his expression through fashion and visual arts. With 8 years of experience in Hairstyling and graduating in Toronto at the Fiorio Beauty Academy, he continues to grow and educate himself to this day. Having competed in industry competitions and completing his Master Colorist training, Kyle loves creating lived-in balayage looks. Ready to tackle challenges that come his way with passion, creativity, and a smile; he’ll educate you on hair questions and theory and bring you closer to loving and understanding the crown that is our hair.

After Graduating from the 2-year hairstyling program at Algonquin College, Leah apprenticed for 2 years more before joining the Hair Junkie Team!  She was eager and ready to take on the Hair Styling world!  She has since completed Redken courses in Curly Hair, Barbering and Blonde Mastery.  She constantly steps out of her comfort zone in search of new techniques.

Blowouts, Hair Designing all textures and shapes, Coloring expertise, Keratin Smoothing, volumizing perms, and body waves are only a few of his many talents.  Naj offers proper diagnosis and recommendations for each client offering the best and most suitable home care routines and products to achieve it every day. Starting with a consultation at every visit, he listens attentively to client needs and desires to achieve maximum satisfaction.

I’ve been working as a stylist for 10 years and I’m always seeking out new ways and techniques to do the job I love. My favourite thing is working with my clients to create vivid and lived-in dimensional colours and styles that they’ll be able to recreate themselves at home. I take great pride in having detailed consultations to ensure that my clients feel heard and to get them as close to their hair goals as possible.

Growing up in Greece, she started in the business at an early age and eventually attended school in Athens.  A natural talent, Juliana has padded her resume with numerous achievements through education. An expert in all things Kerastase, having trained at their flagship New York City headquarters, Juliana is our “go to girl” when it comes to their line.

Juliana has covered the continent, honing her skill at every level of the business. She has been to New York City & Mexico with Kerastase, Vidal Sassoon Academy in London England and Montreal and Las Vegas with Redken, on top of ongoing training here in Ottawa

Pleasant and easy to talk to, Juliana is our little touch of Europe, right here at Hair Junkie.

Having competed in industry competitions and completing his Master Colorist training, Kyle loves creating lived-in balayage looks. Ready to tackle challenges that come his way with passion, creativity, and a smile; he’ll educate you on hair questions and theory and bring you closer to loving and understanding the crown that is our hair.

After Graduating from the 2-year hairstyling program at Algonquin College, Leah apprenticed for 2 years more before joining the Hair Junkie Team!  She was eager and ready to take on the Hair Styling world!  She has since completed Redken courses in Curly Hair, Barbering and Blonde Mastery.  She constantly steps out of her comfort zone in search of new techniques.

I’ve been working as a stylist for 10 years and I’m always seeking out new ways and techniques to do the job I love. My favourite thing is working with my clients to create vivid and lived-in dimensional colours and styles that they’ll be able to recreate themselves at home. I take great pride in having detailed consultations to ensure that my clients feel heard and to get them as close to their hair goals as possible.
